Groundbreaking At New Axis Pipe & Tube Plant

Axis/Prolamsa officials are joined by Bryan Mayor Bienski and Brazos County Judge Duane Peters.

Groundbreaking took place on the site of the $150 million dollar, 700,000 square foot Axis Pipe and Tube plant in north Bryan.

285 employees will be generating 300,000 tons of product for the oil and gas industry when the plant opens next year.

Speakers included the matriarch of Axis and parent company Prolamsa, Irma Montemayor. Here comments, in Spanish, were translated by her daughter, Irma Garza.

Welcoming and thanking the third-generation Mexico-based corporation were Brazos County Judge Duane Peters, Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski, and the President of the Research Valley Partnership, Todd McDaniel.

At the request of the Garza and Montemayor families, two blessings were delivered. Msgr. John McCaffrey of Bryan did one in English, and Fr. Rodolfo Caballevo of The Woodlands did one in Spanish.
