Bryan Police Arrest A Local Man Who Is Scheduled To Face An Attempted Murder Trial In Arizona

Bryan police arrest a local man who is scheduled to face a murder trial in Arizona. A spokeswoman at the Navajo County, Arizona county attorney’s office tells WTAW News that 45 year old Glen Estrada was indicted by a grand jury on one count of attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault-domestic violence on August 25, 2020. That is after an Arizona court document lists charges of intentional second degree murder, aggravated assault resulting in serious physical injury, and aggravated assault. According to a Bryan police arrest report, Estrada was arrested in Bryan on warrants related to the Arizona case on January 19, 2024. Estrada was released from the Brazos County jail May 14th according to the BPD arrest report because he was never extradited by Arizona officials. The BPD arrest report is associated with Estrada’s arrest on charges of threatening two people with a knife. An officer who responded to a disturbance at 1:30 the morning of May 31st was told that one of the victims had a shotgun. No shots were fired and the gun was not pointed at Estrada. The victim who had the gun was not arrested. Estrada, who was arrested on two counts aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, remained jailed as of June 3rd in lieu of bonds totaling $60,000 dollars.

College Station ISD School Board Proceeds With Items Related To 2023 & 2024 Voter Approved Bond Issues

College Station ISD school board members at their May regular meeting, approved moving ahead with the first of several rounds of selling bonds that were approved by voters last month and last November. Voters approved in the two bond issues, financing more than $352 million dollars of projects. The first bond sale, for $53 million, is scheduled for sometime in June. Superintendent Tim Harkrider and chief financial officer Amy Drozd answered board questions about breaking up the bond sales during the next two to four years as opposed to one sale for the entire amount. Drozd said they have learned from the district’s consulting architect what the cash flow needs are during the next 12 to 18 months, so that the district is not sitting on bond revenue and having to pay interest. Harkrider added there is also an impact on the property tax rate. The district’s bond counsel, Jeff Gulbas, says interest rates have dropped over the last six months. Board members also approved amending a contract with its current outside architect to also be in charge of the projects approved by voters in May 2024. Brazos County Commissioners Approve A Fourth Change To The Design Contract Of Administration Building Renovations

For the fourth time, Brazos County commissioners amend the contract to design remodeling and repairs at the administration building. Adding about $255,000 dollars to the design contract brings the total design cost to $1.6 million dollars. That is nearly double the original design contract of $867,000 dollars. The commission’s project director, Trevor Lansdown, says repairing the building “envelope”, the area between interior walls and the exterior brick, has nearly doubled the entire project cost to an estimated $17 million dollars. The original design for renovating the county’s administration building included creating more office space by doing among other things, adding a second floor to the former church sanctuary.
