AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Texas Gov. Rick Perry will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.
Perry spokeswoman Lucy Nashed said the damage was caused by “normal wear and tear.” Perry, an avid jogger, had the same procedure done to his right knee in 2001.
Dr. Carey Windler will perform the operation on Friday and Perry will temporarily transfer power to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst while he is unable to serve.
The surgery takes about an hour and will require two small incisions.
