Germain Ifedi To Return For Junior Season

COLLEGE STATION—Texas A&M starting offensive tackle Germain Ifedi, a redshirt sophomore from Westside High School in Houston, has decided not to enter the NFL draft and will return for his junior season.

“My dream is to play in the NFL, but another year here at Texas A&M will put me closer to finishing my degree in construction science and will help me continue to improve,” Ifedi said.

Ifedi redshirted during the 2012 season and was named to The Sporting News Freshman All-America team as he started all 13 games in the 2013 season. This past year, Ifedi started 11 of the 13 games at right tackle on the offensive front. He missed two games due to injury.

“GI (Germain Ifedi) is a key component to our offensive line and we look forward to him being a leader on our team next year,” Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin said. “He has the skills to play at the next level but we are very pleased he will return for the 2015 season.”

The Aggies finished the 2014 season with an 8-5 record and a 45-37 victory over West Virginia in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

Thus far only junior running back Trey Williams has declared for the NFL draft.
