Gas Prices Rise in Texas

IRVING, Texas (AP) _ A brief bump in crude oil prices are cited as a factor in a retail gasoline price hike in Texas and across the nation this week.

The weekly AAA Texas gasoline price survey released Thursday shows the average price of unleaded regular-grade gasoline rose 3 cents in Texas to $2.59 per gallon. The average price rose 2 cents nationally to $2.74 per gallon.

The auto club statement also noted jitters last week among oil traders when Tropical Storm Bonnie briefly threatened offshore oil fields and Gulf Coast refineries.

The cheapest gasoline in Texas this week is in San Antonio, where the average price remained unchanged at $2.53 per gallon. The most expensive is in El Paso, where the average price rose a nickel to the national-average $2.74 per gallon.
