BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas A&M’s Cedric Ogbuehi and Myles Garrett were named to the 2014 All-Southeastern Conference Team, as selected by the SEC head coaches, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Ogbuehi, a senior from Allen, Texas, earned first-team honors as an offensive lineman, while Garrett, a freshman from Arlington, was named to the second team as a defensive lineman.
Ogbuehi spent time at both the left and right tackle position while helping protect the SEC’s top passing attack. The Aggies were the only team in the SEC to average more than 300 passing yards per game with 306.4 yard per contest. The Aggies also led the conference with 35 passing touchdowns.
Garrett re-wrote the Texas A&M and SEC freshman record book with 11.0 quarterback sacks in his first season in Aggieland. Garrett had matched the old Texas A&M QB sack record of 5.5 by the third game of the season and took sole ownership in game 6 of 2014. In the ninth game of 2014 (fifth start), Garrett broke South Carolina’s Jadeveon Clowney’s SEC freshman record of 8.0 sacks. He also owns Texas A&M’s freshman standard for single game sacks with 3.5 against Louisiana-Monroe.
