Well South Carolina is once again the kings of College Baseball and this time they didn’t need much drams in beating Florida 5-2 to win their second straight College World Series. The masters of the one-run heart stoppers scored three runs in the third inning and that’s all they would need. A home run by Peter Mooney and two RBIs by series MVP Scott Wingo led the offense while Michael Roth got the win, striking out six.
The Gamecocks set an NCAA record with 16 straight tournament wins and 11 straight CWS wins dating back to last season.
They went a perfect 5-0 this year at Omaha, including an opening 5-4 win over A&M a week ago Sunday. By the way that was the only game South Carolina gave up more than 2 runs in any game.
