Gabriel Hall Now Jailed Without Bond

More details were revealed Thursday about last week’s murder of a College Station man and attempted murder of his wife.

18 year old Gabriel Hall made his first appearance in Brazos County District Court because prosecutors wanted Hall held without bond. That motion was granted by District Judge Travis Bryan.

That’s after the judge saw pictures of the crime scene, including where Edwin Shaar Jr. was found dead, heard a recording of the 9-1-1 call made by Shaar’s wife Linda, and listened to testimony from the 9-1-1 dispatcher and the lead investigator.

The judge was told Hall chose to kill the Shaar’s two months earlier due to the location of their house.

Hall told investigators he was hiding in the garage carrying a nine millimeter pistol and five knives.

Hall says when Mr. Shaar saw his reflection in a vehicle window, Shaar was stabbed and shot by the garage door leading into the house.

Then Hall went into the house and tried twice to shoot Mrs. Shaar, but both times the pistol jammed. Her throat was cut while she was on the phone screaming to the dispatcher.

The judge also learned detectives recovered at Hall’s house the gun, still jammed, and the knife believed to have been used in the stabbings. That was after the pond at Brothers Park was drained.

Hall’s court-appointed lawyer presented no evidence or witnesses.

Judge Bryan says there will be another hearing next week to determine whether Hall continues to be represented by an attorney at county expense.
