Full Fairfield Inn Evacuated Following Saturday Fire

It was a difficult Saturday night for those who booked all 60 rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Bryan.

Those guests had to find other accomodations after they were evacuated following a fire.

Gerald Burnett of the Bryan Fire Marshal’s office says someone was smoking outside the Texas Avenue side of the motel.

It’s believed the wind blew a lit cigarette butt against the building, igniting siding and spread the fire from the ground level to the attic above the third floor.

Burnett says firefighters from Bryan and College Station responded no one was hurt.

Gerald Burnett visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.

Fire damage was limited to the exterior of the Fairfield Inn.
