FUJIFILM Biotechnologies Employees Participate In Two Local Earth Month Events

Employees of Bryan/College Station’s largest private employer participate in two local activities in observance of Earth Month.

At Bryan’s Haswell Park, employees at FUJIFILM Biotechnologies joined Keep Brazos Beautiful’s Arbor Day event at Bryan’s Haswell Park in planting 15 native trees, including a 200 gallon memorial live oak recognizing a founding member of Keep Brazos Beautiful, Ron Schmidt. Employees also assisted in children’s hands on nature activities.

And at College Station’s Tarrow Park, employees removed approximately 400 pounds of waste.

News release from FUJIFILM Biotechnologies:

More than 60 FUJIFILM Biotechnologies Texas employees marked Earth Month by volunteering in two community events across the Brazos Valley: an Earth Day cleanup at W.A. Tarrow Park in College Station and an Arbor Day tree planting at Sue Haswell Park in Bryan.

Adopt-A-Park Cleanup: On April 22, 20 employees cleaned W.A. Tarrow Park—officially adopted by FUJIFILM Biotechnologies through the City of College Station’s Adopt-A-Greenway Program. As part of their efforts, employees filled 10 large contractor bags with litter ranging from mobile scooter parts to plastic toys and straws – totaling approximately 400 lbs. of waste. The effort supports the program’s goals to encourage stewardship, enhance safety, increase outdoor activity, and protect open space and habitats.

Keep Brazos Beautiful Arbor Day: On April 25, over 40 employees joined Keep Brazos Beautiful at Sue Haswell Park to plant 15 native trees with guidance from master gardeners, while additional volunteers supported children’s hands-on nature activities and event operations. A special 200-gallon memorial live oak was planted by the City of Bryan in remembrance and in honor of the late Ron Schmidt, an active volunteer and supporter of Keep Brazos Beautiful.

These efforts are part of FUJIFILM Biotechnologies’ Earth Month activities and Partners for the Planet initiative to improve the communities where employees live and work, while advancing global environmental goals:

o 50% CO2e reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2040 (Scope 1 & 2; 2019 baseline).
o 100% electricity from renewable sources by 2027.
o 30% more efficient potable water usage by 2030 (2019 baseline).

Earlier this week, through FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation’s partnership with Geronimo Power, the Company announced it is now powering 100% of its electricity usage in North America through renewable energy certificates.
