Ft. Worth Principal Arrested

DALLAS (AP) _ The Fort Worth school district says a middle school principal is on paid administrative leave after authorities accused her of leaving her two young children in a downtown Dallas hotel room while she went to a bar.

Dallas police say 44-year-old Carla Westbrook-Spaniel of Arlington was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of public intoxication after scuffling with a bouncer and police when she wasn’t allowed into a nightclub because she didn’t meet the dress code.

The Dallas Morning News reported that police learned of the children, ages 3 and 4, during the arrest. Westbrook-Spaniel remained jailed Monday on two counts of child endangerment. There was no attorney listed for her.

Authorities say the children are with other family members.
