Another undeveloped corner along the Earl Rudder Freeway is in the process of changing.
The College Station city council at its last meeting approved switching the comprehensive plan land use to general commercial at the northwest corner of the freeway and Harvey Mitchell Parkway.
Realtor Fain McDougal, who has been representing the current landowners for 13 years, say they are interested in seeing hotels and restaurants being built.
While the switch will be to general commercial, the council was told big box stores won’t be interested. Engineer Veronica Morgan, also representing the current landowners, says that’s because the lot sizes are half the size of what they requre.
Ponds and wooded areas will remain as part of the 11 acre parcel. Maintaining flood protection was discussed by councilman John Nichols and city engineer Allen Gibbs.
