More than 20 years ago, a couple of roommates in College Station brought a California burrito restaurant to Northgate, which expanded throughout B/CS.
Along the way, the roommates sold Freebirds to a corporation and moved the home office to Austin.
A recent nationwide survey of the best burritos led to the discovery that corporate officials at Freebirds removed all references on its website to its roots in College Station.
That did not sit well at our sister station Candy 95 and the Morning Candy team of Frito and Katy.
They and Candy listeners contacted Freebirds corporate officials, who made the necessary changes and sent Frito and Katy an e-mail.
