Free Tax Preperation Services Coming Up in BCS

It’s the beginning of a new year, and W-2 forms will be arriving within the next couple of weeks.

Although in the past, the twin cities have partnered with United Way to offer volunteer income tax assistance, Ronnie Jackson with the City of Bryan says there’s a different way to get help this year: the AARP.

Jackson says you don’t have to be a senior or member of AARP to receive the free tax preparations, which will be offered at the Clara Mounce and Larry J. Ringer libraries.

He stresses that an appointment must be made for you to receive the help, and you must bring what you need, depending on whether you’re doing a short or itemized form.

There is also tax-preparation training available, Jackson says,  starting Monday at the A&M United Methodist Church for those who’d like to volunteer.

According to Jackson, Larry J. Ringer Library in College Station will offer tax preparation services Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-6, and Saturday from 9-1, while Clara Mounce Library in downtown Bryan will offer services Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1-5, Tuesday from 1-7, Thursday from 2-5, and Saturday from 9-1.

If you’re interested in receiving tax preparation training as a volunteer, which will begin  Monday at the A&M United Methodist Church, call Marlene Reinschmidt at 979-690-3043.
