UPDATE: Five Deaths And Five Unaccounted For Following Apartment Fire Near Texas State University

We are sad to report that a fifth body has been recovered from the scene of the Iconic Village fire.

The bodies have been transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office for identification.

Positive identification could take more than a week.

Search and recovery efforts will continue until all buildings have been cleared.

An apartment complex fire Friday morning in San Marcos near the Texas State University campus has killed four, left five more unaccounted, and has hospitalized one.

San Marcos fire marshal Kelly Kistner says city, state, and federal authorities could be at the scene through at least Friday.

Those who died were all in one of three apartment buildings.

College Station based Texas Task Force One sent a crew of 22 people and two dogs to assist.
