News release from Texas A&M Athletics:
The Texas A&M men’s tennis team nabbed four All-SEC individual honors, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Three Aggies earned First Team All-SEC recognition, including senior Togan Tokac, junior Kholo Montsi and sophomore Theo Papamalamis. Markus Molder was named to the All-Freshman team.
Papamalamis earned his second straight first team nod with a 14-8 singles record and a 13-7 doubles record in dual action at the top of the line. The Frenchman is currently ranked as the No. 11 singles player and is part of the No. 2 doubles duo in the country with Tokac. The sophomore has picked up eight ranked wins, including over then-No. 9 Aidan Kim of Ohio State in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
Montsi earned his first All-SEC honors after a breakout performance in his first year in the Maroon & White. Earlier this season, the junior earned his first SEC Player of the Week honor and was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team for his perfect singles performance in Texas A&M’s semifinal run. Montsi has clinched all three of the Aggies top 10 wins the season in the last man standing match. He holds a 13-4 singles and a 13-8 doubles record with a current ITA singles ranking of 34.
Tokac picked up his fist SEC recognition in his senior season. He is part of the No. 2 doubles tandem in the country with Papamalamis, the highest in the SEC. The pair has eight ranked wins together, and were named ITA All-Americans last season. Tokac has a 12-7 record in doubles himself, all from line one. The Turkey native has held down the bottom half of the singles lineup, posting a 16-7 record.
Molder earned his first career recognition after joining the Aggies in late January. The freshman was named to the Freshman Team after posting a 12-5 record and an impressive 9-2 record in conference action, with two ranked wins to his name. In doubles, Molder has logged a 8-5 record, majority coming from the third line with partner Lathan Skrobarcek.
