Bryan City Council Rejects Bids On Building A Boardwalk Over Midtown Park Lake And Awards A Contract To Replace Playground Equipment At Two Other Parks

Building a 950 foot long boardwalk over Bryan’s Midtown Park Lake is on hold. That’s after the Bryan city council rejected two bids during April’s regular meeting for being too expensive. The city’s cost estimate was $2.7 million dollars. The lesser of the two bids was almost $3.3 three million. The Bryan council during its April regular meeting awarded a contract to replace playground equipment at Bonham and Tanglewood Parks. Background information given to the council says replacement parts are no longer available for the Bonham play structures, which were built in 2002. And Tanglewood’s new equipment replaces what was built in 2006. The $465,000 dollar purchase was endorsed by Bryan’s park and recreation advisory committee. College Station ISD School Board Receives An Update On Projects Funded By The District’s 2021 Bond Issue

The April meeting of the College Station ISD school board included discussion and action related to approval of a bond issue in November 2021. Assistant superintendent Josh Symank provided updates on renovations at the CSISD natatorium and Pebble Creek elementary and plans for upcoming renovations at Consolidated High School, Cypress Grove intermediate, and the district’s central office. The update also included technology purchases from the 2021 bond fund. Symank also said CSISD is scheduled to take ownership this week of the first phase of the district’s new career, technical, and education center. Construction of phase two, approved by voters in November 2023, is expected to start shortly. Later in the meeting, CSISD board members unanimously approved awarding more than $1 million dollars from the 2021 bond for the replacement of air conditioning and heating systems at Forest Ridge and Pebble Creek elementaries. The CSISD board also unanimously approved spending $225,000 dollars in 2021 bond money for moving services related to renovations at Cypress Grove intermediate, Pebble Creek elementary, and Consolidated High School. One Brazos Valley School District Is Ending The School Year Earlier Than Originally Scheduled

Students, their parents, and employees in one Brazos Valley school district get a surprise from their school board and their superintendent. Buffalo ISD superintendent Adam Ivey says the board agreed to end the school year a week sooner than planned. In a video posted on the Buffalo ISD/Bison Nation Facebook page, Ivy said because Buffalo ISD will reach the minimum number of instructional minutes required by the state, the last day of school will be May 17th instead of May 23rd. State law requires a minimum 75,600 minutes of instructional time.
