Former Texas A&M Men’s Basketball Assistant Abdur-Rahim Dies at 43

Former Texas A&M Men’s Basketball assistant Amir Abdur-Rahim has died at the age of 43.

Adbur-Rahim was undergoing a medical procedure at a Tampa hospital when he died due to complications that arose during the procedure. He was the South Florida head basketball coach.

Abdur-Rahim played under Billy Kennedy at Southeastern Louisiana and then coached under Kennedy at Murray State and Texas A&M. He was a Texas A&M assistant from 2014 to 2018 before heading to Georgia for an assistant position. He would then head to Kennesaw State as the head coach before taking the South Florida head coaching position in 2023.

Abdur-Rahim is survived by his wife and three children.
