Former Texas A&M Football coach R.C. Slocum announced via Facebook Monday night that he is cancer free.
The 76-year-old Slocum was diagnosed with a form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma last June, and underwent radiation treatment at MD Anderson in Houston and Baylor Scott & White in College Station.
A 2012 inductee into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame, Slocum coached the Aggies from 1989-2002, leading them to 123 wins and 11 bowl appearances.
He also served as Texas A&M’s interim athletic director in the spring of 2019.
Slocum and his wife Nel currently reside in College Station.
