49 year old Lolita Lollar of Cedar Park was booked in the Brazos County jail then released last Friday after posting bond.
According to the arrest report from College Station police, Lollar took money from the owners of seven homes between December 2016 and last June.
Victims lost almost $33,000, over $28,000, more than $10,000, more than $6,000, two victims lost more than $5,000, and one lost more than $1,000 dollars.
As a safety precaution related to tropical storm Beryl and its impact on the Brazos Valley, all Bryan ISD offices and campuses will be closed on Monday, July 8. This includes all student activities. As of Sunday evening, the city of Bryan reports the following changes at the city’s parks and recreation department for Monday, July 8: • Canceled: aquatic programs, Camp HERO, co-ed softball, and the Neal recreation center summer camp. • Closed: Bryan Aquatic Center, Henderson Harbor, and Sadie Thomas Pool. The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum will be closed on Monday July 8, 2024. If you have already purchased tickets, they can be used another day or can be refunded. All Sam Houston State University locations will close Monday (July 8) out of an abundance of caution as Beryl approaches the Texas coast. Face-to-face classes are cancelled. More steps are being taken to attract a $10 billion dollar, 1,800 employee manufacturing plant to the Texas A&M system’s RELLIS campus. The system’s board of regents approved during a special meeting on Wednesday (July 3), authorization for administrators to “negotiate and execute a development agreement, ground lease, and other related agreements regarding a manufacturing facility” that remains unidentified. Chancellor John Sharp told reporters after the regents meeting that he remains under a non-disclosure agreement. Before the regents meeting, Bryan mayor Bobby Gutierrez said on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs that he is also bound by the non-disclosure agreement. But he said Bryan was a finalist for something that could be built anywhere in the world. Friday afternoon (July 5), the city of Bryan and Brazos County released the agenda for the July 9th meetings of the city council and county commission. Both agendas includes a proposed ten year tax abatement agreement for what was described as a “high technology manufacturing plant”. The agreement proposes the applicant would receive from both Bryan and Brazos County, an 80 percent break on property taxes in the first five years and a 50 percent abatement in the sixth through tenth years. Background information from the city of Bryan says even with the tax abatement, the city estimates collecting more than $164 million dollars in property tax revenue during the ten year period. The background information also says during the tax abatement period, the applicant would give the city five percent of what is being abated towards “the enhancement of the quality of life of Bryan citizens” that includes but are not limited “to infrastructure or programs for parks, recreation and exercise; libraries; aesthetic enhancements to public spaces; public education; senior citizen services; youth services; and healthy lifestyles.” Click HERE to read and download additional information from the city of Bryan about the proposed tax abatement agreement. A fired College Station police officer admitted in court this week (July 1) to two misdemeanor thefts that took place in July of last year. Online court records say 24 year old De’Kedrick Anderson was placed on probation for one year and eight months from a suspended jail sentence of one year. Anderson’s plea includes giving up his peace officer’s license and performing 120 hours of community service. Anderson was with CSPD for seven months before he was terminated after taking money from someone he arrested. Both thefts, on July 15 and July 2, 2023, involved less than $750 dollars. Update, July 20, 2023: More information is known about the arrest of a former College Station police officer on a charge of taking money from someone he arrested last Saturday. According to the CSPD arrest report, investigators reviewed bodycam video from former officer De’Kedrick Anderson and video from his patrol vehicle that showed Anderson taking part of the prisoner’s cash and placing it in the back of his patrol vehicle. This took place after Anderson delivered the prisoner at the Brazos County jail. The arrest report says Anderson admitted committing the theft in “a moment of weakness”. Investigators recovered $360 dollars. The prisoner said he was short $500 dollars. The 23 year old Anderson was fired from CSPD after seven months on the job. He is out of jail after posting a $4,000 dollar bond following his arrest on an enhanced misdemeanor theft charge that took place while he was on duty. Original story, July 18, 2022: A College Station police officer on the job for seven months has been fired and has been arrested on a misdemeanor theft charge. A CSPD news release says 23 year old De’Kedrick Anderson of College Station took money from someone he arrested last Saturday. The specific amount of cash was not disclosed. But the charge accuses Anderson of taking between $100 and $750. Anderson was jailed Tuesday in lieu of a $4,000 dollar bond on a charge that was enhanced because the theft took place while he was on the job. News release from College Station police:
