One person stepping forward to tell police he had been sexually abused 11 years ago has led to the accused admitting to contact with multiple victims.

On Monday, before jury selection started in his trial, 48 year old Jesus Marcano of Bryan entered a plea agreement.

He will serve at least 20 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole.

Prosecutors say Marcano met the victims while he was a reporter for the local Hispanic newspaper and coaching youth soccer, where he would gain the confidence of the children’s parents.

A friend of the first victim, who lived in the same apartment complex as Marcano, gave police multiple pictures of children going in and out, which led investigators to identifying a total of four victims.

Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Brian Price stated in a news release that “Jesus Marcano is a child predator that was finally brought to justice because of the courage of several young men. He is a classic example of pedophiles who manipulate parents and children to fulfill depraved sexual desires.”
