Food Bank’s 20th Feast of Caring is Wednesday

The Brazos Valley Food Bank’s (BVFB) 20th Feast of Caring fundraiser is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Brazos Center in Bryan.

Executive Director Theresa Mangapora says there is no charge for the meal of beans, rice, sausage, and salad. Donations will be accepted that goes towards food bank operating expenses.

Lunch will be served by community leaders.

Mangapora says three new additions for the 20th annual event includes tip jars to recognize the servers, “Change for Change” jars at the dining tables, and a display showing the Food Bank’s building expansion plans with an opportunity to financially support that campaign.

BVFB serves 50,000 unique individuals in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington counties.

Mangapora says the food bank distributes 4 million pounds annually and is shooting for 5 million this year, along with increasing the amount of produce and other fresh foods to 30 percent.
