Flooding Damage Being Assessed

Wednesday update:

The College Station fire department responded Monday night to a pair of electric transformer fires, a trash fire, several alarms triggered by the weather where there were no fires, and assisted Bryan firefighters.

Brazos County officials are now collecting damage assessments from Monday night’s flooding rains. Michelle Meade at the county’s emergency management office says there were very few calls to 9-1-1 dispatchers from homeowners reporting property damage. Those who have not made damage reports can call 979-821-1011.

In Bryan, the police and fire departments assisted with rescuing a person trapped in a vehicle stalled in high water in the area of Old Reliance and Austin’s Creek Drive along with assisting a disabled person get out their house on Tennessee. Private citizens pushed a vehicle out of the water at East M-L-K and the freeway and at Finfeather and Dodge. There was also a report of a car being swept away at Saunders and Bruin Trace near Kemp school but no one was hurt. And a resident escaped gtheir flooded house in the 13 hundred block of North Parker without injury.

College Station police reported not being involved in any rescues or vehicles that were swept away.

The College Station fire department did not respond to WTAW News inquiry.

The TxDOT district office in Bryan reports FM 1179 remains closed near Grassbur Road and there are washouts on FM roads in Burleson and Grimes counties.

FM 2000 about four-miles from SH 21-This is a washout area. Closed for approximately two weeks.

FM 3058 is closed due to washout. Will be closed for a while.
