Recent destructive weather hit several parts of Texas, including the Brazos Valley, causing physical damage to homes and businesses.
Bill McGuire of the Better Business Bureau said if you are looking to have repair work done, there are some things you need to know.
Storm chasers are workers from out of town who come into your town after destructive weather hits. They typically go door-to-door only wanting to deal with cash, and may not even work for a legitimate company.
“You’ve gotten your insurance check, you’ve cashed it, you’re ready to get work done. They tell you they want half the money right now to go buy materials, that is usually a red flag,” said McGuire.
