BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Sophomore Savion Flagg of the Texas A&M men’s basketball team was named SEC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday morning. This is the first of such honors for Flagg, who has led the Aggies in scoring and rebounding in each of the last three games. Flagg was named SEC Freshman of Week on one occasion last season.
In A&M’s first game of the week, the Alvin, Texas native sparked a 13-2 run between halves to help lead the Aggies in their first season sweep of Alabama, finishing with 18 points and nine rebounds. Flagg closed out the week with a 22-point performance against Arkansas, also adding nine rebounds, to earn A&M’s first victory in Fayetteville since the 1986 season. Flagg averaged 20 and nine through the week of play, and is averaging 12.7 points and 7.7 rebounds on the season.
The Aggies return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 as they take on nationally-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
