COLLEGE STATION – Five members of the Texas A&M softball team earned All-SEC honors as voted on by the league’s coaches, the conference announced Tuesday.
Sophomores Tori Vidales and Ashley Walters were named to the All-SEC First Team, and Vidales earned All-Defensive Team honors. The pair are the first Aggies to be named to the All-SEC First Team since joining the conference in 2013.
Freshman Keeli Milligan was named to the All-SEC Second Team and is joined by Kaitlyn Alderink andSamantha Show on the All-Freshman Team.
Vidales leads the Aggie offense with a .408 batting average and is tied for first on the team in runs with 53. The La Porte, Texas native has hit 14 home runs with 50 RBI and has drawn a team-high 38 walks. In her first year playing at first base, Vidales holds a fielding percentage of .994 with 317 putouts, 10 assists and two errors.
Walters has slugged nine home runs this season while hitting .353 with 53 RBI and eight doubles. In SEC play, the catcher from Kerrville, Texas leads the league in RBI with 31 and is tied for the team lead in batting average .403.
Milligan is hitting .382 at the top of the lineup and is tied for the lead in the SEC in stolen bases with 51. Milligan broke Sharonda McDonald’s school record of 48 stolen bases set in 2005. The Vidor, Texas native is tied for the team lead with 53 runs, which is tied for second in program history.
Alderink, who has started in all 54 games this season, is batting .351 with four home runs, 37 RBI and is 12-of-13 on stolen base attempts. In conference play, Alderink is fourth on the team in hitting at .329 with a team-high 24 runs.
In the circle, Show is tied for the most wins in the conference with 23 and has appeared in 40 games, starting 29. Show has thrown 178.1 innings this season and holds a 3.69 ERA with 156 strikeouts. Against ranked teams, Show has recorded seven wins and a save. Show is hitting .277 with 12 home runs, 26 RBI and five doubles.
