First Day Of School Ends With Contract Extension For Bryan ISD’s Superintendent

It was a very long but an amazing first day of school in Bryan ISD. That was the opening comment in superintendent Christie Whitbeck’s report to the school board on Monday night.

The report included an update on the start of the first day of the district’s bus transportation system that was implemented last January, as well as schedule changes at Rayburn and Long intermediate schools.

At the end of Monday night’s meeting, the board unanimously approved a one year extension of the superintendent’s contract.

The only board member to make a comment came from David Stasny, who teased about delaying action after everyone had a long first day of school.

The superintendent received a two percent pay raise, the same as other administrators and most teachers.

Dr. Whitbeck’s contract runs through August of 2021.
