Firefighters are on their bicycles honoring 19 of their own who lost their lives in Bryan, West, Houston, and Dallas.
This year’s Brotherhood Ride began last week in Louisiana and will end Friday in Houston.
Wednesday’s leg, from West to Bryan, is dedicated to Lt. Greg Pickard and Lt. Eric Wallace, the Bryan firemen who died in last year’s Knights of Columbus Hall fire.
The route included Pickard’s hometown of Italy, south of Ft. Worth, and Wallace’s hometown of Marlin.
Once the bicyclists reach the north side of Bryan, they will exit Highway 6 at FM 2818, turn at Beck, then Palasota, then Groesbeck, go past the Knights of Columbus property, then turn from Groesbeck to Finfeather, and continue on Sims until reaching Fire Station 1.
The group will meet with supporters at Station 1 for 15 to 30 minutes before riding to the Bryan Elks Lodge for dinner and to stay overnight. That route is Main Street, South College, Old College, and Mobile Avenue.
According to the Bryan Fire Department’s Facebook page, once they hear the bicyclists are in Hearne, a one hour notice will be posted on their Facebook page.
