A late-night fire has displaced more than a dozen College Station residents.
Flames and smoke were seen shooting from the second floor of an apartment unit located in the 1000 block of Balcones Drive within the Balcones Apartment complex Friday night.
Crews were dispatched to reports of smoke shortly before 11 p.m.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the College Station Fire Department.

An apartment fire late Friday evening displaced at least fourteen residents of the Balcones Apartments at 1000 Balcones Drive in College Station. No injuries were reported.
Fire department units were dispatched at 2256 hours to reported heavy smoke coming from the apartment. The first unit arrived on scene at 2300 hours and reported heavy flames coming from the front and rear of a second floor apartment in Building A. Some residents were already evacuating their apartments and fire department personnel assisted in evacuation of Building A and the adjacent Building B. A total of 20 apartments were evacuated.
Firefighters attacked the fire using compressed air foam hose lines and were able to confine the fire damage to the apartment origin and part of the attic space of Building A. Several other apartments sustained smoke and water damage. The fire was under control at 2340 hours.
The displaced residents from Building A were assisted by the College Station Citizens Action Response Team (CART) and the Texas A&M Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The residents of Building B were allowed to return to their apartments after the situation was under control.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation by the College Station Fire Marshal’s Office. There is no reason at this time to suspect that the fire was not accidental.
A total of 10 fire department units staffed by 24 personnel responded to this incident. They were assisted by several College Station Police officers and a crew from College Station Utilities.
