Filing Period Ends For All November City-School Elections in B/CS

Thursday was the last day to file for one of two unexpired terms on the College Station city council being vacated by opponents in this year’s mayor’s race.

There was a fourth filing, that came with four minutes before city hall closed for the day. Businessowner and attorney Jeremy Osborne has is seeking Karl Mooney’s position, which runs through next year. Osborne is opposed by Linda Harvell.

There are two candidates for John Nichols position, which runs through 2018. They are Joe Guerra Jr. and Barry Moore.

Monday was the deadline for the remaining city council positions in College Station and all openings on the Bryan city council and the school boards in the twin cities.

The only seat with one candidate was the College Station council seat being vacated by Steve Aldrich’s election to the Brazos County Commission. Running unopposed is Jerome Rektorik.

There is a contested race for Bryan mayor. Former city manager and mayoral candidate Mary Kaye Moore, who filed Monday, is opposed by businessowner Andrew Nelson.

There is also a three way race for the Bryan council single member district one position. Filing on the last day was retiree Raul Santana. He joins Reuben Marin and incumbent Al Saenz.

There were no additional filings for Bryan and College Station school boards. That means incumbent victories for Bryan’s Doug Wunneburger, Felicia Benford, and Trey Moore…along with College Station’s Jeff Harris, Michael Wesson, and Quinn Williams.
