Fewer Coronavirus Vaccine Doses Being Given In Brazos County This Week

CHI-St. Joseph Health announced Friday afternoon receiving fewer vaccine doses for next week, resulting in rescheduling some clinic appointments.

News release from CHI-St. Joseph Health:

We received some disappointing news today. Unfortunately we were allocated fewer vaccine doses than we anticipated for both the Brazos County Community Hub and St. Joseph Health vaccine clinics. This change in quantity will affect some individuals currently scheduled for 1st dose and 2nd dose appointments. For the week of February 8, we are only receiving 2,000 1st doses and 1,000 2nd doses.

Later today, we will begin sending out emails to reschedule 1st dose appointments at the Brazos Center. Individuals who currently scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, all day Wednesday and all day Thursday on the week of February 8 should receive an email informing them that their appointment has been rescheduled for the same day and time the week of February 15.

In addition, individuals who are scheduled for their 2nd dose at either St. Joseph Health MatureWell, Bryan Hospital or College Station Hospital, should look for an email with their rescheduled appointment time. All of those individuals will be rescheduled for the following week. Please don’t panic if you are at the 28 day mark or later and you get a reschedule notice. You will still be within the window to receive the second dose, according to CDC guidelines.

Volunteers who are scheduled for shifts during these rescheduled times should also receive notification of these changes from the American Red Cross.

As a reminder, the Brazos Center is strictly being used as the location for the vaccine hub, and its staff are not able to answer any questions related to the vaccine or registration process.

We know this is disappointing news and had hoped to receive the same amount that we did for this week, however we are dependent on what the state allocates us each week.

We’re working hard to vaccinate every 1A and 1B resident in the Brazos Valley, which is more than 130,000 people. If you’re eligible for the vaccine and interested in receiving it, we encourage you to sign up on our wait list by visiting St-Joseph.org/covidvaccine and watch your email for an invitation. There may be a delay from the time you register on the wait list to the time you receive an invitation to schedule. Please know we’re working as fast as we can to help everyone in the Brazos Valley get a vaccine that would like one.
