Why There Is Fencing Blocking Spaces At Downtown Bryan’s Parking Garage

In the next month, repairs will start on the north side of the downtown Bryan parking garage.

The Brazos Transit District (BTD) owns the garage across 26th Street from the courthouse.

BTD lawyer Wayne Rife says several months ago, the district noticed some movement of the block walls on the perimeter of the north side of the building.

Rife says the walls that are being replaced are cosmetic and do not affect the structural integrity of the garage.

The district’s counsel added that out of an abundance of caution, an engineer was hired to check out the rest of the building.

Rife says he should get the results of that study before the end of April.

The parking spaces that are blocked were reserved spaces. Rife says those customers are now parking on the opposite side.

The parking garage and adjoining bus terminal opened six years ago.
