Federal Grants For Rural Broadband Announced By Senator Cornyn

Brazos and all surrounding counties are part of another round of federal grants to extend rural broadband service.

Nearly $16 million dollars will be spent in the next ten years according to a news release from the FCC provided by senator John Cornyn to connect 23,000 underserved homes and businesses.

In Brazos County, more than $500,000 dollars will go to five companies serving more than 1,300 customers.

In Robertson County, four companies are sharing $1.4 million to serve more than 2,500 customers.

Three companies serving Burleson County will receive a combined $1.8 million dollars serving more than 2,100 customers.

Two companies serving Grimes County will receive a combined $1.5 million dollars serving more than 4,200 customers.

Four companies in Madison County are splitting more than $500,000 dollars to serve more than 2,500 customers.

In Leon County, three companies are sharing more than $7 million dollars is headed to serve more than 3,700 customers.

Three companies in Milam County are sharing almost $2.5 million dollars to provide service to almost 4,300 customers.

And one company in Washington County is receiving more than $500,000 dollars to serve almost 2,500 customers.
