HOUSTON (AP) _ Two Houston-area investigators are accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in rare comic books while working an embezzlement case.
The Houston Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1xSEkHC) a grand jury indicted 41-year-old Dustin Deutsch on Tuesday with felony theft by a public servant and tampering with evidence. Deutsch and his former partner at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, 39-year-old Lonnie Blevins, are accused of stealing the comics from a storage unit in 2012.
The FBI says Deutsch had keys to the unit that held comics, including a first-edition Batman. Authorities say Deutsch gave the comics to Blevins, who sold them in Chicago.
Blevins pleaded guilty to federal charges in May and is awaiting sentencing. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Deutsch has an attorney.
