DALLAS (AP) _ Federal officials have acknowledged they’re investigating the discoveries of an undisclosed number of apparent incendiary devices in east Texas mailboxes.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service said Tuesday it would offer $5,000 for information leading to convictions after wicked, liquid-filled bottles were found in Henderson, Kilgore and Tyler, about 90 miles east of Dallas.
The reward offer comes a day after police in Henderson said they found five devices in mailboxes outside the main post office, bringing the number of reported devices to at least nine.
Postal officials say there has been no threat to the public nor postal personnel so far. However, suspects could face charges related to the destruction of mailboxes or mail.
