Getting around the intersection of Texas and University Friday night was a challenge for a couple of hours.
The reason was a natural gas line was cut on the construction site of what was the Plaza Hotel.
Atmos Energy spokesman Chace Murphy says the backhoe operator was digging where he was supposed to when a four inch main was hit.
There was no interruption in natural gas service.
But for the better part of two hours, traffic was blocked at and around the intersection and those staying at three nearby hotels couldn’t use their vehicles…all as a safety precaution.
Chace Murphy visits with WTAW’s Bill Oliver.
