Elementary Students to Attend A&M Women’s Basketball Game

Tuesday morning’s A&M women’s basketball game will have their largest crowd of the season.

Athletics Assistant Marketing Director Casey Doyle says nearly 4,000 fourth and fifth graders will be attending as guests of the first ever elementary school day.

Doyle says head coach Gary Blair and others in the athletics department developed the event, which has become popular among division one women’s basketball programs.

Doyle says some of the students already have contact with team members, because community service projects for some of the players includes assisting Bryan elementary schools.

The event also includes appearances from local mascots and Santa Claus.

Students will receiving 12th Man towels and they will be recognized on the video board.

Bryan ISD reports about 2,300 students will be attending, College Station ISD reports approximately 900, and Doyle says among the private schools attending is Still Creek Ranch.

For the rest of us, Tuesday’s 11 a.m. tipoff with Nicholls State is part of the Holiday Hoops promotion, meaning general admission tickets start at $4 dollars.
