Without any fanfare, Optimum cable television customers in Bryan/College Station are again able to watch several channels that were blocked due to a rate dispute with Nexstar Media Group, the company that has the most local TV stations in the country. The block, imposed January 10, was lifted January 18th according to the Nexstar website. The block affected B/CS customers attempting to access the local FOX station along with other subchannels associated with the FOX affiliate. Original story January 13, 2025: Optimum cable television customers in Bryan/College Station have been without several channels since last Friday (January 10) due to a rate dispute with Nexstar Media Group, the company that has the most local TV stations in the country. That means no local FOX station, Antenna TV, News Nation, and NewsMax for Optimum customers in B/CS. Optimum’s website directs customers to pay more to access the lost channels through a streaming service. The website for the Fox affiliate serving B/CS, which is owned by Nexstar, directs affected customers to contact Optimum. Nexstar’s website says Optimum’s decision affects 63 local television stations in 42 markets across the country.
