The service was held on a vacant lot on North Main, between 21st and 22nd Streets. Fire Station One, which is based downtown, brought its engine and rescue unit.

The public address microphone from a police department patrol car was used by the speakers; who included Fire Chief Randy McGregor, Mayor Pro Tem Ann Horton, DBA Interim Executive Director Rene Lawrence, Hugh Majors of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, and Rick Sitton of Bryan’s First United Methodist Church.

A string quartet from the Bryan High School orchestra performed, and the service ended with “Amazing Grace” played on the bagpipe by Bob Leslie.
