The Texas Department of Public Safety has awarded a trooper and two Madisonville police officers for lifesaving efforts last year. Trooper Justin Reese, Sgt. Hector Camarillo, and Officer Lucas Cunningham were recognized for providing CPR to a woman who had no pulse and her face was turning blue. They also assisted medics in re-establishing the victim’s heartbeat.
Also from DPS, a recent list of promotions includes a former captain in the Bryan office becoming the director of the capitol region based in Austin. Dwight Mathis, who was in Bryan between 2003 and 2011, had been an assistant chief of the DPS highway patrol division.
