Downtown Bryan Parking Study

The Bryan City Council received an update at this week’s meeting on creating more parking in the downtown area for customers.

Cassidy Barton, the director of the Downtown Bryan Association, says It’s a “perception problem” requiring a “perception solution”.

Barton says downtown regulars are being asked to keep the closest parking spaces available for shoppers.

Barton says recommendations from a recently completed study includes adding more timed spaces. If adopted this would apply weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Main and Bryan Streets.

There’s not a shortage of downtown parking. Barton says at peak usage, 30 percent of spaces are still available.
