Downtown Bryan Fire Under Investigation

A fire in downtown Bryan early Friday morning remains under investigation.

Deputy Fire Marshal Fred Taylor says the first alarm sounded around 4 a.m. to the “Edges” building at William Joel Bryan and Main.

The building is home to the Halo Club.

Taylor says there was fire damage on the second floor, which has a dance floor and bar.

Smoke and water damage extended through the rest of the building.

The fire was contained to the building, according to Taylor, because of the way it was built. The building design also delayed the investigation. While the fire was out before sunrise, Taylor said the wait until midday was due to the time it took to remove smoke from the poorly ventilated building.

No injuries were reported.
