There’s a new phone scam telling people they have to pay a deposit for a new utility meter.
BTU issued the warning after receiving calls from customers saying that scammers are saying meters need to be replaced and customers have to pay a deposit.
Customers say they were told to call one of two phone numbers. BTU says both are fake numbers given to customers to trick them into paying.
Those numbers are 800-571-0420 and 877-266-7370.
