Brazos County’s two newest elected commissioners were opposed to continuing paying a consultant $120,000 dollars a year to assist the human resources office.

Newly appointed acting county judge Kyle Kacal was the tie breaking vote to renew for the second time, an agreement that assists with employee benefits.

Fred Brown, who voted no, questioned consultant Bobby Anderson of Houston about what his firm does.

Bentley Nettles joined Brown in voting no, while Kacal joined commissioners Chuck Konderla and Wanda Watson to extend the contract.

Background information from county staff stated “Delays in renewal could disrupt strategic benefits planning, open enrollment coordination, and vendor negotiations.”
