DFW Drunk Driver Charged with Murder

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ Prosecutors have filed a murder charge against a North Texas woman accused of causing a fatal wreck while driving the wrong way on Interstate 35-W with her hands behind her head.

The charge Wednesday against Brittany Dawn Burton comes after Fort Worth police said an officer saw her late Friday.

The officer pursued her SUV and saw two vehicles try to avoid the Arlington woman’s vehicle, only to wreck in the process. The two drivers got out and one, Jeffery Lee Hogan, was struck and killed by another vehicle.

Police suspect Burton was driving drunk with her 6-month-old daughter in the SUV with her. Neither were hurt.

Burton’s in Mansfield City Jail with bond set at $200,000.
