Departure Of Veteran Bryan Councilman And The Introduction Of A New Councilman

The end of Tuesday night’s Bryan city councilman meeting was a tribute to departing councilman Ben Hardeman and the swearing in of his successor, Brent Hairston.

Hardeman was given a number of gifts. Among them, was a custom made replica of the rotating crown of the Queen Theatre sign, acknowledging Hardeman’s countless hours in the restoration of the historic building. Hardeman completed a total of 17 years of council service over three tours of duty.

17 years over three tours of duty for Bryan city councilman Ben Hardeman ended Tuesday night.

Hairston and incumbent at-large councilman Buppy Simank, who was also sworn in Tuesday night, ran unopposed in this year’s election.
