Death Penalty Sought in Dialysis Case

LUFKIN, Texas (AP) _ The state will seek the death penalty in the case of a former nurse accused of killing five patients at a Lufkin dialysis clinic with bleach injections.

The prosecution announced plans Wednesday during a pretrial hearing to pursue death for Kimberly Saenz, the Lufkin Daily News reported.

Saenz is charged with five capital murder counts and five of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,

An indictment alleges she injected 10 patients with bleach last year at the Lufkin DaVita Dialysis clinic. Five died.

Her attorney has said his client is a scapegoat for the clinic.
