SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ The Army has disclosed that information on nearly 1,300 patients at a top military medical facility in San Antonio may have been breached last fall.
Brooke Army Medical Center spokesman Dewey Mitchell said a case worker left a binder with notes that may have included names, phone numbers and medical info in a car that was broken into on Oct. 16.
The break-in did not occur at Fort Sam Houston, where the hospital is located.
Mitchell says police and the Defense Department were notified when the break-in occurred. Patients were told nine days later, but he said the Army felt it needed to make a public disclosure this week.
