SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (AP) _ A man police suspect was burglarizing the top floors of a six-story South Texas resort condominium block is dead after falling from the top of the building.
South Padre Island police say the incident happened before dawn Tuesday at the Peninsula Island Resort and Spa. Police Chief Randy Smith says 31-year-old Robert Ainsworth of Portland was burglarizing the top-floor condos when he slipped and fell to his death.
Smith says the man’s body was found with stolen items, checks and a large amount of cash. A 32-year-old Corpus Christi man has been arrested for questioning in the case and is booked into the South Padre Island jail.
