Dallas Zoo Evacuated After Suspect Flees

DALLAS (AP) _ Dallas police say they have arrested a man who eluded police last week when he fled into the Dallas Zoo.

Authorities on Thursday said they arrested Brynell McFarland at the apartment of his girlfriend after covert surveillance lasting several days. McFarland, who was arrested without incident, was wanted on a probation violation for aggravated robbery.

On April 29, officers were serving a warrant at a nearby apartment when two men ran and jumped a fence into the zoo. One of the men was quickly detained and later released. Police evacuated a portion of the zoo while they searched for the wanted man, who was identified Thursday as McFarland. The zoo was shut down for several hours.
